Neighborhood Resources

The purpose of the Department of Neighborhood Resources is to develop and coordinate grant-funded programs to supplement local annual budget allocations. The Department of Neighborhood Resources is responsible to assist in the mission of the City of Huntsville’s goal of maintaining and improving the social and economic well-being of its citizens, and the sustainability of the community.

Huntsville Hazard Mitigation Plan 

The 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan providing an overview of natural hazards, summarizing past hazard events, and presenting potential future actions to minimize impacts on life and property is available. The Plan can be accessed through the City of Huntsville’s website by clicking Hazard Mitigation Plan as well in a hard copy form available at City Hall located at 1212 Avenue M, Huntsville, Texas, 77340.

An approved and adopted plan is a requirement for the City to remain eligible for future hazard mitigation grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Plan has been reviewed and approved by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and FEMA. The final step is adoption by the City  which allows the City to become eligible for future grant applications.

TEXAS GENERAL LAND OFFICE – COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & REVITALIZATION

CITY OF HUNTSVILLE – HURRICANE HARVEY INFRASTRUCTURE APPLICATION

The City of Huntsville was allocated $1,848,751 in infrastructure funding from the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) in their Method of Distribution (MOD) regarding declared Disaster Recovery 4332.  The HGAC MOD was approved by the Texas General Land Office on October 3, 2018, which made the City eligible to formally submit an application to request Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery (CDBG-DR) funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for recovery from Hurricane Harvey.  

Beginning on Friday, July 19, 2019, the City of Huntsville will have a draft of the proposed Hurricane Harvey Infrastructure Application available for viewing and review at Huntsville City Hall, located at 1212 Avenue M in Huntsville, Texas, and on the City’s website at https://www.HuntsvilleTX.gov/ for a period of thirty (30) days.

The City of Huntsville will be conducting a public hearing on the City’s proposed Hurricane Harvey Infrastructure Application to the Texas General Land Office Community Development and Revitalization (GLO-CDR) Program on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 5:30 P.M. at City Hall in the City Council Chambers to gather public comments and input from the community on this proposed application submission.

CIUDAD DE HUNTSVILLE – APLICACIÓN DE INFRAESTRUCTURA DEL HURACÁN HARVEY

 A la ciudad de Huntsville se le asignó $1,848,751 en financiamiento de infraestructura del Consejo de Área de Houston-Galveston (HGAC) en su Método de Distribución (MOD) con respecto a la Recuperación de Desastres declarada 4332.  El Mod hGAC fue aprobado por la Oficina General de Tierras de Texas el 3 de octubre de 2018, lo que hizo que la ciudad fuera elegible para presentar formalmente una solicitud para solicitar fondos de recuperación ante desastres de Subvenciones en bloque de desarrollo comunitario (CDBG-DR) proporcionados por el Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano (HUD) para la recuperación del huracán Harvey.

A partir del viernes 19 de julio de 2019, la ciudad de Huntsville tendrá un borrador de la propuesta de aplicación de infraestructura de huracán Harvey disponible para su visualización y revisión en el ayuntamiento de Huntsville, ubicado en 1212 Avenue M en Huntsville, Texas, y en el sitio web de la ciudad https://www.HuntsvilleTX.gov/ por un período de treinta (30) días.

La ciudad de Huntsville llevará a cabo una audiencia pública sobre la aplicación de infraestructura propuesta por la ciudad sobre el huracán Harvey al Programa de Desarrollo y Revitalización de la Oficina General de Tierras de Texas (GLO-CDR) el jueves 25 de julio de 2019 a las 5:30 p.m. Ayuntamiento de las Cámaras del Ayuntamiento para recabar comentarios públicos y aportaciones de la comunidad sobre esta propuesta de presentación de solicitudes.
